Abstract
This work analyses the impact of globalization in culture and identity processes in countries with a high social and cultural heterogeneity, such as Mexico. It is considered the role of education in the challenges that a globalized society imposes, regarding to the specific characteristics of the local population. From a general perspective of globalization, this paper also investigates its impact on cultural and identity processes, which are the bases of the integration of culture, education and communication. At last, it is considered the educational policies and their main concerns about the needs of the educational system and of the population it attends, since the perspective of constructing quality and searching for equality, having ‘interculturality’ as the horizon of a possible future.
