El desalineamiento electoral en México, 1997-2009
Abstract
From 1997-2009, electoral behavior in Mexico has undergone constant oscillations with regard to partisan preferences. Such occurrences have revealed a misalignment between the electorate and political parties. Nationwide, the main parties have experienced important fluctuations in voting results as emerging parties have begun receiving some of votes from the electorate. This misalignment reveals several modalities across federative entities. In some instances, the traditional parties have been strengthened as a result, as in others the emerging parties have benefited. There are instances in which the stronger fluctuations occur in the emerging parties, meanwhile in other cases the instability is relatively low.
