Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to offer an introduction Erving Goffman’s work. It aims at reflecting upon the work drawn from everyday interactions, written as narrations about small actions, encounters, and occasions –such as conversations, demonstrations of kindness, thoughtfulness, and good manners– as he emphasizes the study of the rules of face-to-face interaction, an approach that, on the other hand, intentionally neglects to focus on the macrostructures of social life.
