Gino Germani y la democracia amenazada

Abstract

This article attempts to identify the main steps taken by Gino Germani to participate in institutionalizing sociology as university career in Argentina, illustrating the decisions made to address the theoretical and practical problems posed by the construction of the discipline for start-up of metaphysical speculation, and rooted in the empirical problems. A theme that runs through all the varied production of this scientist –tied to the vicissitudes of his own existence– is the concern for democracy, as the antithesis of totalitarian regimes.
