Abstract

Ernest Mandel is one of the fundamental representatives of Critical Marxism, whose contributions serve to link political theory and practice, and continue to figure in decisive debates still under way. Trained as an economist and a keen student of the contradictions and tendencies of contemporary capitalism, this work addresses his less well-known contributions concerning theoretical-political questions such as: the State; the moments of general crisis of capitalist relations and the social order; processes and forms of organization; and, resistance and emancipation of the oppressed- these funneling into the problems of democracy and the reorganization of societies from an anti-capitalist perspective. The main purpose of this essay is to recover and confront Mandel’s ideas, inviting newer generations of readers to discover and reflect upon them.
