Abstract

Utopia fate in CEB's. The Martin Carrera community case (l976-2006).Reflections on Basic Ecclesial Communities (CEB) of the Catholic Church -particularly the case of a northern Mexico City community, Martin Carrera. The text begins with a brief historical community review whose presence began in the 1960s as an option of social and political participation for a large number of Christians who adopted the method of the Young Catholic Workers (see, judge and act), a new way of understanding and of being church -solidarity, commitment, mutual support, fellowship and participation were the hallmarks of these communities. However, given the social and political commitment that they acquired, the Catholic hierarchy sought to control and neutralize them, a situation which led to many confrontations between bishops and members of these communities. The text aims to reflect about imaginary significations in these groups of Christians, where we found utopia as element that has been articulated and maintained through nearly 40 years. Key Word: Basic Ecclesial Communities, imaginary significations, christians.
