Globalización y mercantilización de la educación. Nuevos retos para los Estados y las universidades públicas
Abstract
Since the eighties of the last century, the financial international organizations promoted the privatization of education as a part of neoliberal politics. As a consequence, the public institutions’ participation in the registration of higher education has decreased around the world and has been strengthened in contrast of the private one. In this process, education has become to be considered as merchandise, a service, so which are the consequences of subordinating education to the economical interests?, what is the roll that public universities play in this scenario? These questions are the object of this paper’s analysis. KEY WORDS: education’s merchandising, education’s quality, elite universities, mass universities.
