La construcción identitaria en contextos de diversidad cultural. El sentido del "nosotros" y del "otro" en los estudiantes de la telesecundaria Zozocolco de Hidalgo, Veracruz
Abstract
In this article we present the processes that characterize the construction of identities in the context of the socio-cultural diversity of Totonacan and non-Totonacan students attending the Telesecundaria in Zozocolco de Hidalgo, Veracruz. In our analysis we present three of the dimensions in which these are configured: the spatial and physical-social; the symbolic-cultural and the communicational, which provide elements that allow for the development of the identity of “oneself” and “others” in a single act of mutual construction, which leads to the generation of situations of conflict and discrimination in the space of the school, but especially within the Totonac cultural group. Starting with a theoretical discussion on identity construction and the building of worlds of life where identity is organized and reconstructed, the study goes on to develop an analysis of the social reality expressed through the testimony of both Totonacan and mestizo students in Zozocolco de Hidalgo, the protagonists of this process.
