Abstract

this research analyzes and describes the case of women who have participated as legislators from Tlaxcala during the period from 2005 to 2016. Based on a qualitative methodology through interviews, 11 former legislators were able to get to know their life story and have empirical evidence to know the sociocultural limitations they have to access power, included in the concept of political violence. The findings show that a redesign of the substantive representation in politics is necessary, as well as public policies and compensatory actions to guarantee the inclusion of women in politics.
