Abstract

the objective of this work was to generate a diagnosis of the potential supply of ecosystem services of hydrological nature, biodiversity and carbon capture of the forested ecosystems that surround Oaxaca City, with the purpose of improving the institutional capacity of their holders, to access programs of retribution for environmental services and to avoid unwanted changes in land use. This, owing to the fact, that these services constitute an important theoretical-conceptual and political framework to link ecological infrastructure to well-being. Starting from the existence of events and their underlying processes causing risk to materialize, this supply can be seen as conditions which may prevent or accelerate the risk of losing well-being. Methodologically, the research followed a multi-criteria approach implemented in a GIS platform. The results suggest that, out of the municipalities studied, San Agustín Etla, Tlalixtac de Cabrera and San Andrés Huayapam stand out as the least vulnerable.
