Violencia, exilio y memoria
Hanna Arendt, Edward Said y Tzvetan Todorov
Abstract
During the xx century, relevant considerations have been developed about modern culture, violence and exile in the fields of Philosophy (Hannah Arendt, Walter Benjamin), Sociology (Georg Simmel, Zygmunt Bauman), from literary and post-colonial studies (Tzvetan Todorov, Edward Said). The starting point in this work is the experience of the exile in the context of devastation and suffering of colonialisms, totalitarianism and modern warfare. In this paper, the focus will be in Hannah Arendt’s criticism towards Violence and the loss of meaningful memory in Modernity. The loss of identity reflects human fragility facing the fragments of vivid histories perceived through popular memories and the experience of exile.
