Abstract

in order to understand concepts such as democracy and itizenship is essential to analyze the role that women have played throughout history and how they have influenced the evolution and composition of both concepts. Therefore, this article will try to analyze the political representation from agender perspective, trying to identify the most important characteristics of representative systems and stressing moments of transformation by social and inclusive pressures. In the area of women´s political representation should be considered the new opportunities offered by the political and institutional systems, the dialogue between the feminist movement and the institutions, the new repertoire of organizational resources and collective dynamics, and the application of analytical tools such as the gender approach to the field of public policy that have allowed the development of proposals to promote a balanced representation of men and women in policy.
