Abstract

it is argued that the interaction of the relationships between education and society, particularly in those of higher education is diverse depending on analytical approaches related to the economy, juridical and administration. Trends and changes in institutional academic structures, areas and subareas of knowledge, programs taught and cities where they are located, point to certain convergences of privatization or turning into public the Institutions of Higher Education. Finally we describe the evolution that occurs trough time in IES types depending on a number of dimensions or variables as public or private regime, region within the Mexican Republic, cities where they are located, academic-administrative structure and areas and subareas of knowledge and diversification of curricula.
