Abstract

In this article we propose a reflection on the development strategies that are supposedly to have improved the quality of life of the most marginalized populations in the rural sectors, those which in reality repeat the essence of the same development that has been imposed since the middle of the last century, a development without end. In the first part of the article we travel the paths of post-development, a critical line which is proposed for combating development as a discourse and as practice, defamiliarizing it and pointing out its limits, based on the work of Gustavo Esteva in Oaxaca, and Arturo Escobar in the Colombian Pacific. The second part of the article is focused on the critical revision of the new modes of development applied to the rural sector.
