Abstract

Since the men’s arriving to the Mexican basin 11000 years ago, until advanced XX century, its biodiversity has being affected for the irrational exploitation of natural resources, the pollution of water, land and air, and the elimination of its lakes, just to change its bed into urban land, and the run dry of the water bodies that lie in the subsoil, to alleviate the thirst of a megalopolis with more than 21 millions people. There for the climate change in this area and its contribution to the global warming are part of the concerns in this paper where is resumed the history of this environmental tragedy and tries to analyze its trends in the beginnings of XXI century.
