Las encuestas, la política y los resultados electorales en México
Abstract
This paper studies the role of polls and the report of their results by the media, particularly television, in voting intentions and their possible influence on this year’s presidential election results. Taking into account the arguments raised by the polling companies based on their results, the analysis stresses the role of television in politics, the major differences found among polling companies and the election results, as well as the position of the Federal Electoral Institute and the number of studies addressing the issue. Briefly stated, our main interest is to analyze the role of polls in the future of Mexican democracy.
