Abstract

This paper analyzes brokerage made by the Development Local Agencies (adl). We define brokerage as the role that plays the adl as epistemic bridges, mediating between the community and the outer world, by translating market language or making easier the negotiation process and articulating efficiently the mechanisms of defense of rights, or even building collective action processes. Two local development experiences through agencies are examined, both were financed by the Development Local Agencies Program, implemented by the Ministry of Social Development (Sedesol). First, we present the case of the Coordinadora Plan de Ayala, an organization based in Aquila, Michoacán. Second, we examine the case of the Patronato Pro Zona Mazahua, in the state of Mexico. This work focuses in the analysis of the links that are promoted by the adl to fit together the interests of local populations within the public policy logic, connecting meaningful development processes.
