El sistema de partidos en Chile, 1990-2009

Abstract

The party system in Chile since 1990, unlike in the pre-existing for their loss of polarity, marked by the changes to the Socialist Party, that of a Marxist-Bolshevik passed to a social position, and the formation of binomial electoral system which leaves out of parliamentary representation to parties of the extreme left. This has led to the establishment of a system of consensual opposition parties. The next presidential elections in December 2009 and a triumph of the political right could alter this picture.
