Abstract

About Poverty. This paper points out that studies on poverty, while not discussing the array of theories of stratification that fits that notion, are severely limited in their formulations. Therefore it’ll be presented the advantages of integrating its study in the logic and accumulation of capital and its tendency to generate simultaneous poles of poverty and wealth. We analyze some special features of the trends in dependent economies. Economic and political reasons that explain the interest on the study of poverty in the region will be identified.
