¿ Qué pasará con los hijos de los migrantes mexicanos en Estados Unidos?
Abstract
What will happen with the Mexican immigrant children in the United States? In this article I analyze the presence or lack of perspectives of the social and economical mobility that a great amount of the recent Mexican immigrant’s children will face within the American context. On one hand, I construct the analysis from an occupational profile study of the immigrants and the recent evolution of the wage structure in that country and on the other side, the school environment and how it affects the fulfillment of their children in the American schools and their implications for their future work incorporation, taking into account the polarizing impact of the economical and industrial restructuring that the labour market has produced more and more divided. KEY WORDS: Immigrant children, labour segmentation, school segregation, second generation, social mobility.
