Abstract

Nogales: Immigrants and frontier landscape. Immigration towards the United States has grown considerably in the last decades with consequences in our country’s economical, political, demographic and cultural life. The way we live, we perceive and conceive the phenomenon from the ones that go away, the ones that come back and the ones that stay, has special impacts. From the cultural point of view, the social immigrants don’t realize the way that the human being organizes his/ her environment and gives it a meaning. The present article tackles the way that social imaginaries takes form in the local field of the Mexican-American frontier, specially in Nogales city in the state of Sonora; where the conformation and dynamic of the territory occur from an immigrant community that translate its imaginaries in a landscape apparently chaotic, vulnerable and in danger. KEY WORDS: immigration, territory, imaginaries, frontier, Nogales.
