Abstract

the purpose of these notes is to give an account of an investigation whose intention was to investigate whether the discourse of mothers residing in the city of Tlaxcala is similar to that of the ideology of intensive motherhood described by Hays (1998). Within this main point, and following the lines drawn by Hays, it seeks to make explicit the conception of the tlaxcalan mothers on motherhood, the good mother and the bad mother, as well as the tensions that can be experienced in facing the maternal ideal that is has drawn over time with the daily experiences within the exercise of motherhood. Finally, knowing the opinion they have about the role of mother and father in the upbringing and care of children is also a question that arises from the assumptions of intensive motherhood.
